Creating Toogood Budget

It has been about a year since I started writing the Toogood Budget software. The driving force was my desire to use this software myself. This is a project of passion for me.

I have used budgeting software for the last 15 years and I have my financials under control most of the time. I have been frustrated many times because I want to see my budget on the go. I don't want to track my every cent I spend, but I want to know where my money is commited, where I have free money and also how much am I spending annually.

I found that most budgeting software are either behind the times, or they are aimed at the corporate world. Microsoft Excel was brilliant, but it isnt as as available as a web based application - and of course you shouldn't have to be a Tech wiz to create and stick to a budget. I wanted an easy to use, internet based budgeting tool so when I get paid - I Immediately know where my money is going. My monthly planning was great, but then I had lean paychecks and then fatter paychecks as my bills were stacked at one end of the month.

I want to see my budget in 3 frames of reference. My Paycheck, Monthly planning and Annual Estimates. These features are out of the box on day 1. The Paycheck view is the reason I wrote this software.

I want to see when I get paid - how much I need to put aside for bills, how much I pay myself and how much goes towards my debts.

I also want to compare my current budget to some of the smartest budgetters in the world (coming soon).

I also want a tool that I can have estimate how long until I am financially independent according to the FIRE movement (also coming soon).
